My Mr.M blog is not an ordinary blog: it’s a story about me – a travelling fashionista who is exploring the world.
Azerbaijan: Adventure of a Lifetime
Azerbaijan is a country of contrasts where past and future cross at each step. I had the great privilege to visit Baku, Gobustan, the Ismayilli and Gabala regions.
Baku is a city from the future with its amazing “Flame Towers” and Heydar Aliyev Centre on the one side, and traditional parts such as Maiden Tower and the Old City on the other. In this city, every traveller will feel Azerbaijan’s warmth and hospitality from local people. The first thing that you will notice is an interesting combination of modern, Islamic, Russian Imperial and Italian-French architecture. Baku represents the social, cultural and industrial centre of Azerbaijan. It hosted the Eurovision Song Contest and European Games.
I visited UNESCO World Heritage listed Gobustan Reserve and nearby mud volcanoes. Can you imagine that 300 of the 700 on the planet are located in this region?
My next stop was Lahij, a remote village located in the Ismayilli district of Azerbaijan and represents one of the oldest permanently populated places in the world. In the 18th century, the village gained a reputation for producing cold steel weapons and copper. Many of these products are parts of regular exhibitions in famous museums such as the Louvre and the Hermitage.
My last stop in Azerbaijan was Gabala, which represents an ideal tourist destination because of its spring climate, mountains and diverse fauna. Many world-class hotels and resorts will welcome travellers from all over the world and provide them with the best quality of service.
Nice weather, sun, smiles and a full camera battery are everything you need to start a new adventure and explore exciting Azerbaijan. Let Azerbaijan be your next travel destination and prepare for an amazing adventure. You will not regret it!
