Visit a honey havenin Lekit village
Api Delta is run by former shepherd Badraddin Hasratov together with his sons, all of whom are absolute experts in the world of beekeeping. They currently keep 300 bee colonies and visitors can admire their colourful hives scattered across the property’s fields. You can also learn all aspects of the modern honey making process, as well as techniques from hundreds of years ago – which are exhibited in the lovely woods that fringe the field.
Besides producing a host of honey-based products, Badraddin and his boys place a strong focus on education, the main goal being to share their beekeeping knowledge and skills, especially with the younger generation. A variety of honey-making workshops are set to be offered from 2022, when a guest house with cottages is also due to open.
Local jam-making masterclasses can also be arranged at Api Delta, led by another family member, Bahar. She makes jams, pastries and natural medical products – the ingredients for which she grows herself in her large garden – and is considered an expert in cooking with local organic products.
While you’re in Lekit, make sure to visit Mamirli waterfall and the Seven Church Monastery Complex (the ruins of ancient Albanian temples), both located in the enchanting forest in the upper part of the village.
